Quote Instructions
When trying to obtain a cost estimate for moving & storage, an on-site survey is your best option. But if that is not possible, or you are just looking for an approximate cost, you can receive a rough cost estimate via fax or email. Here are some basic instructions for receiving the most accurate estimate:
- List items by room.
- Be descriptive…straight chair…queen bed… sofa…extra large armoire.
- Do not forget to list items from patios, terraces, basements, storage, attic, garage.
- Try and approximate the cartons you will have…add 20 more!
- If you require clothing wardrobes…for every 2 feet of hanging clothes = 1 wardrobe.
- If you require Packing, please list number and size of pictures, mirrors, glass tops, marble tops, glass shelves, lamps. For dish and glassware, list the # of servings. For books, list number of shelves and approximate length of shelves.
Parking/Driveways
- Please provide information about where the truck will park.
- Describe both origin and destination. Incline or decline driveway? Street parking?
- For city parking: Is there designated parking or will be street/double park?
- What would the approximate distance be from house/apt. to the truck?
Elevators/Stairs (If move originates or ends in an apartment or co-op style building
- Stairs: How many flights? Wide or tight stairways?
- Elevator: How far from the building entrance to elevator? Any ramps/stairs involved? How far from the elevator to the apartment/condo doorway?
Important Information
In moves that originate or end in an apartment, condo or co-op, please check with the management about their requirements for movers.
Check for time restrictions and certificate of insurance instructions.
If the building requires a certificate of insurance please have management fax or email us their requirements.
